Experiences of individuals who have participated in Crystal Meth Anonymous: a qualitative study

Clinical Trial Details

The purpose of this study is to learn about people’s experiences with Crystal Meth Anonymous (CMA), a 12-step community-based support group for people who use crystal methamphetamine.

The goals of this research are to better understand why people go to CMA and what they get out of attending. The researchers hope the findings will inform future treatments and care for people who use crystal methamphetamine.

All participants enrolled in this study will complete an online survey and participate in a one-time interview over Zoom video conference with a member of our study team. The interview will take approximately 1 hour. Compensation is available for eligible participants who complete the survey and interview.

The interview will contain several questions about your use of crystal methamphetamine, how you first decided to attend a Crystal Meth Anonymous meeting, and your experiences with Crystal Meth Anonymous. The interview may also involve questions about other mutual recovery groups and/or other types of substance use treatment or support you have tried in the past. The interview is intended to collect information from participants, not as therapy.

Total study participation is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes over the course of one day.

Key Eligibility:
  1. 18 years old or older.
  2. Have attended at least one CMA meeting within the past two years.
