Long term Outcomes of Obese Patients with Gastrointestinal Complications of Disease

This is an observational study for men and women who have a body mass index (BMI) of greater than 30 kg/m2 and have a history of liver or gastrointestinal (GI) problems. 

The purpose of this registry study is to collect data through medical chart review for up to 5 years. Data will include age, sex, race/ethnicity, medical history, medication history, physical exam findings, laboratory data, procedures, radiological studies, pathology reports (i.e. liver biopsy results), and FibroScan results. If an individual agrees to participate in this study, data will be collected from any visits the participant makes/made to the clinic. 

In addition, participants will be asked to complete testing that measures muscle mass and number of calories that are used per day. These tests will take less an hour and will be read and interpreted by the WCMC Nutrition Unit. Participation will be for up to 5 years. 

Key Eligibility: 
  • 18 years old and over
  • Have a BMI greater than 30 kg/m2
  • Have a history of problems with the liver or gastrointestinal tract
