This trial compares the effect of two different types of coaching for people living with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Living with RA is difficult, and some people will also experience challenges with stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions (depressive or sad symptoms).
Treating RA is important to improve joint pain, but treating the emotional and mental health while living with RA is just as important. This study aims to determine which of two different coaching interventions is more effective in improving the mental and emotional health of people living with rheumatoid arthritis.
The two coaching programs in this study are called Healthier and Healthy Horizons. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two programs. All coaching will occur over the phone, so this study is open to participants from any state and city in the United States.
Participants from both study arms will have 9 telephone-delivered sessions over a 9–12-week period. The Healthier intervention will be delivered by a peer coach (another person with RA) while Healthy Horizons will be delivered by a coach (a person without RA but who has a different chronic condition like osteoarthritis or diabetes).
Throughout the study, participants will also complete surveys and compensation is available for completing these surveys.
Detailed eligibility will be reviewed when contacting the research team.
